Today
By Rani Jackson
Suffocating in the pain and violence of today's ignorance,
Screaming because the silence is so loud,
Telling me life will bamboozle me,
Blindly going down a path that has been set for us,
Inquisitive on why we're so complacent with this war...
Why?
Why must we fight to show the rage inside?
Why must we kill thy neighbor's son?
Why?
Having the chance to be the best
But yet we chose to disgrace those at rest.
Why do you think life is but a game
That you may disrespect yourself and others
But yet have no shame?
Today is the day,
Tomorrow is no guarantee,
So let's start rebuilding
For the future because we hold the key.
